A deputy is sworn in on a Monday. By Tuesday, he’s in handcuffs. What happened in between is something his department never saw coming — and it all started with a Snapchat message.
In this video, we break down the body camera footage, the sheriff’s press conference, and the full investigation into one of the fastest arrests of a law enforcement officer in recent memory.
In 2025, a 19-year-old was hired as a deputy with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. He completed the process, passed the requirements, and was officially sworn in. Less than 24 hours later, he was terminated and placed in handcuffs inside the very jail he was supposed to be working in.
Investigators discovered that the deputy had been sending Snapchat messages to underage girls, including a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old. In those messages, he asked for explicit photos. He told one of them that he was a deputy and a powerful person. He told another that he knew how to keep a secret.
The sheriff held a press conference and made it clear — this behavior would not be tolerated. The deputy’s mugshot was displayed publicly. Following the arrest, the sheriff’s office changed its minimum hiring age from 18 to 21.
The former deputy was offered a plea deal. His career in law enforcement lasted less than one day.
