Armenia’s Ambassador to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, was hosted by the Greek “Strabo” Society of Geographical Studies at the historic Athens Club for a closed-door meeting and working dinner.
The event opened with remarks by the Society’s president, Ambassador George Poukamissas, and its secretary, Professor Emmanuel Giannakoudakis.
Ambassador Mkrtchyan delivered an extensive address covering a wide range of issues. He highlighted the declaration signed in Washington and the initialing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, stressing their historical significance for regional developments.
He also spoke about President Donald Trump’s “Route for International Peace and Prosperity,” describing it as a key component of the emerging “Crossroads of Peace” framework and emphasizing its relevance for unblocking regional transport and communication routes in a way that serves the interests of all countries in the region.
The Ambassador reviewed Armenia’s relations with neighboring and regional states, the priority of normalizing diplomatic ties and opening the border with Türkiye, and the development of Armenia’s partnerships with the United States, the European Union, and Greece, including the deepening of multi-sector cooperation.
Mkrtchyan further addressed Armenia–Diaspora relations, highlighting the role and importance of the global Armenian community in the country’s development.
Following his remarks, the Ambassador responded to all questions from participants.
The meeting brought together members of the “Strabo” Society, including former senior officials, diplomats, military figures, and academics from Greece and the European Union.
