00:00 Speaker A

Buckle up because now you can buy pre-owned Ford vehicles on Amazon.

00:06 Speaker A

And Yahoo Finance’s Pras Subramanian joins us now with more. Pras.

00:11 Pras Subramanian

You know, I actually kind of like haggling with you more than actually going to Amazon, but hey.

00:16 Speaker A

I love a good haggle.

00:16 Pras Subramanian

If you don’t like haggling, this is this is for you, right? So Amazon now uh partnering with Ford to offer you can buy Ford pre-owned vehicles on via Amazon.

00:23 Pras Subramanian

So basically how it works is, you go on the site, you can browse a local dealer’s inventory, right? Uh, you complete most of the paperwork online, and you go to the dealer, you schedule a time to pick up the car and they hand you the keys and and you go away.

00:36 Speaker A

I go to the dealer to pick it up. That’s where I’m going.

00:37 Pras Subramanian

Exactly. They hand you the keys. There’s no haggling. You do that. Now,

00:40 Pras Subramanian

for people who are Amazon users, it’s a it’s kind of that’s kind of a nice thing. Ford says these vehicles are warranted, depending on the age. Certified pre-owned vehicles. So that’s good there. Launching in LA, Seattle, and Dallas. Follows what Amazon did with Hyundai, which you know, it was also includes new vehicles. This is just sort of pre-owned. But like I said, this is a good way for people that don’t want to deal with the haggling.

00:58 Pras Subramanian

They like the Amazon just sort of mode of buying stuff easily through Prime.

01:02 Speaker A

There you go.

01:03 Speaker A

Do you think someday Ford could could offer the new cars on Amazon too? What do you think?

01:05 Pras Subramanian

I don’t see why not, but I think what happens is you start

01:09 Pras Subramanian

the dealers probably aren’t so happy about this because it kind of cuts them out of the negotiation process. They just have to like, okay, here we go, to give them the keys. I think they like to kind of like add on their their little bells and whistles, financial dealings, all that stuff.

01:21 Speaker A

Yes. We’ve all been there.

01:21 Speaker A

Let me let me ask you. I thought we were talking off camera though. See, I also thought it was sort of an interesting strategy in that if I if I had to go to the dealer to pick it up,

01:29 Speaker A

I do then have a relationship with the dealer. And if it’s a good dealer, right, then okay, I got this relationship. I’m going to go to them to get it serviced. Who knows if they if they treat me right, if they’re honest, I might buy a new car down the road for them.

01:41 Pras Subramanian

I think you’re right. I think that’s why the dealers are still part of this process. You know, as supposed to like going to a Ford distribution center and just getting the car. You have to go to the dealer, talk to the guy, service the car there eventually, and then maybe you like you like him or her.
