When I first heard a clip of Marie Claire editor in chief Nikki Ogunnaike on Liv Perez’s podcast saying she had a case of the “shoppies”, a lightbulb went off in my brain. Finally, there was word to describe the particular feeling that we get in as fashion people where we’re suddenly hungry to devour everything in our shopping carts. For me, the feeling came on all of a sudden—I’ve not bought anything fashion related for nearly five months while I was redirecting my shopping budget towards running-related gear (it turns out between race-day sneakers and a Garmin, training for a marathon isn’t cheap!).
