BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. – The new science building at Butte College is being used for the first time this semester. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to enhance the educational experience for students.
More than 2,500 students are currently taking classes in the new building. These students range from STEM majors to those completing their general education requirements.
The building includes 21 labs, two classrooms, and a cadaver room. It was designed with a studio teaching model, where lab and lecture are taught in the same space.
“The planetarium is currently only being used for classes,” said a Butte College spokesperson.
Next school year, the planetarium will also host K-12 and community events, the spokesperson added.
The building cost $73 million and was funded by Measure J. This new facility promises to be a significant resource for the college and the community.
