Why Marjorie Taylor Greene Is REALLY Resigning — And What Happens Next | Chris Cillizza

Marjorie Taylor Greene just shocked the political world. On a Friday night — after 8 PM! — she announced she’s resigning her Georgia House seat effective early January 2026. Why now? Why like this? And what does it actually mean?

In this video, I break down the two major possibilities behind her exit:

1. A genuine personal shift.
For months, Greene has sounded like a totally different person — apologizing for toxic politics, breaking with Donald Trump, and calling out GOP leadership over the Epstein files. Has she had a real political or personal “awakening”? Is she simply done with Washington?

2. A 2028 play.
Her “uni-party” language and outsider framing sound a lot like someone laying the groundwork for a future campaign — maybe as a break-the-system Republican, maybe as an independent.

I walk through all the evidence on both sides, why her timing is strange, how the Epstein fight may have changed her trajectory, and what her departure could mean for MAGA, Trump, and 2028.

This really is a stunning move from someone who was once one of Donald Trump’s biggest champions in Congress. And it raises huge questions about the future of the America First movement.

If you’re new here, welcome! I’m independent, I’m authentic, and I’ll always tell you what I think — no spin.
