Iconic El Paso store Union Fashion reopens after a decade

Union Fashion reopened on Tuesday at the Shoppes at Solana, 10 years after it closed its doors in 2015.

The designer clothing store reopened its doors on Tuesday, located inside the lower level of the Shoppes at Solana, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and live musical entertainment by vocalist Jessica Saks.

According to Union Fashion, the store reopened with curated luxury collections from Burberry, Versace, Canali, and Etro.

The reopening comes after the company announced in 2015 that the designer clothing store would be permanently closing.

Company President Enoch Kimmelman previously said they had decided to focus their attention on their western apparel store, Starr Western Wear.

“Closing Union Fashion will allow us to redirect all of our creativity and resources into Starr again,” Kimmelman previously said.

Union Fashion was established in 1892 in downtown El Paso as an upscale menswear store.

The store played a part in the city’s history as the destination store for U.S. and Mexican presidents when they visited El Paso.

Black Jack Pershing was said to have shopped there, as well as Pancho Villa.

The store eventually added women’s and children’s departments and moved to its previous location on 8701 Gateway West in 2007.

“Union Fashion has such a rich history and is so much part of this region. We’ve been very privileged and honored to have been associated with such a prestigious store,” Kimmelman previously said.
