The most popular financial employers in APAC aren’t the ones you’d expect

We published our Ideal Employer 2025 report last month. As in previous years, the winner wore a familiar face: JPMorgan. But in Asia, there was a new story: unlike last year, JPMorgan wasn’t the most popular in the region. In fact – for the first time ever – it wasn’t a bank at all.

Our Ideal Employer survey asks a simple question: who do you most want to work for in the financial services world? Voters are then asked to quality their choice based on ratings out of ten for a few short qualitative statements concerning compensation and lifestyle. We had over 15,000 voters worldwide.

This year, our voters in APAC thought that the Ideal Employer in financial services was Big Four consultancy Deloitte, which placed second globally. In Asia, Deloitte performed particularly well on these qualitative statements.

  • This company is good for flexible working. (1% above the global average)
  • This company cares about employees’ mental and physical health. (1% above the global average)

Deloitte won the category for the first time in 2025 after JPMorgan won in 2024, and HSBC won in 2023. Deloitte came eighth both globally and among APAC voters last year. It did not rank in the top ten of either category in 2023.

APAC voters were generally quite pessimistic – they rated their Ideal Employers lower on the qualitative statements than their international colleagues did – but Deloitte’s scores in the region were generally consistent with globally. Voters in Asia thought Deloitte was particularly poor for both workload novelty and inclusivity.

People who voted for second-place JPMorgan, which was APAC’s Ideal Employer for the last two years running, considered the bank a generally high-quality employer. Voters considered it a prestigious workplace, as well as one that pays very well. JPMorgan was criticized in APAC for a perceived lack of novelty in its workload.

Global consulting firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG) was considered the third best employer in Asia. Voters who selected it rated it highly across the board, with particularly strong scores for its leadership, integrity, and impact on health. It was slightly below average for the perceived novelty of its workload.
