Police to increase holiday patrols at Mall at Greece Ridge

Greece police say they will be increasing patrols at the Mall at Greece Ridge this holiday shopping season.

The Greece Police Department says informed officers, foot patrols inside the mall and marked patrol units will be “highly visible” in the parking lots and at mall entrances.

The increased police presence is part of the department’s efforts to deter theft, disorderly behavior and large-group disturbances. Police say it aims to allow officers a better chance of responding quickly and effectively to any potential incidents, and keep the mall a safe shopping environment during periods of high traffic.

“The Greece Police Department remains dedicated to ensuring a safe and enjoyable holiday season for our community,” the GPD said in a a statement. “We appreciate the partnership of Greece Ridge Mall management, mall employees, and shoppers as we work together to promote a secure holiday shopping environment.”

Police are also issuing tips shoppers can take to keep safe while shopping, including locking your vehicle and avoiding leaving valuables in plain view, staying aware of your surroundings when entering or exiting the mall and reporting any suspicious activity to mall security or by calling 911.
