Greece and Armenia have confirmed their excellent relations during a meeting between President Konstantinos Tassoulas and President of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan, who is visiting Greece.
Tassoulas said Greece has consistently supported Armenia’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and assists in deepening its relations with the European Union. He added that parliamentary cooperation remains important, noting Greece recognized the Armenian Genocide in 1996 and Armenia recognized the corresponding genocide of Greeks and Assyrians in 2015.
Simonyan said Armenia values its European path and welcomes support from Greece and other European partners toward EU accession. He added that Armenia is committed to fully implementing peace agreements in the South Caucasus to strengthen regional stability and economic progress. [AMNA]
