European Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness Commissioner Roxana Minzatu has congratulated Greece on the signing of a social agreement with national social partners, the Labor and Social Insurance Ministry has said.
Minzatu said the agreement provides inspiration for European social talks, noting that it comes from a country outside the Swedish model with its own historic challenges in bringing social partners and the government together. “Therefore, the message you convey does not relate to Greece alone, but to Europe as a whole,” she said.
Labor and Social Insurance Minister Niki Kerameus said the national social agreement strengthens collective labor agreements in Greece, protects more employees, creates a more stable labor environment for businesses and sets clear rules in the labor market.
Kerameus met with Minzatu and Mario Nava, head of the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DGEMPL), to present the content, significance and next steps of the Social Agreement. [AMNA]
