UI Symphony Orchestra Deftly Handles Difficult Music


Brahms’ “Academic Festival” overture, which opened the program, was played with gusto and provided a rousing beginning for the season’s first concert. The orchestra also played Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony, “On the Steppes of Central Asia,” by Borodin, and Liszt’s “Les Preludes.” — L. H.
