“Wicked: For Good,” is incredible because it is an emotional experience.The characters are brought to life with music and the production of the movie feels captivating to watch the whole time. It evokes all of these things that makes you want to keep on watching.
The movie was released on Nov. 21, 2025, and it is a sequel to “Wicked” (2024) which was directed by Jon M. Chu, with a screenplay written by both Dana Fox and Winnie Holzman. I wanted to watch “Wicked: For Good” because the first movie ended with a cliffhanger.
Madame Morrible, played by Michelle Yeoh — who knows about the Wizard of Oz’s cruelty towards animals — frames Elphaba, who is played by Cynthia Erivo. Elphaba flees Oz after finding out about the injustice and flies away into hiding.
I experienced a range of emotions when watching this movie — happiness, then sadness, and a whirlwind of other different feelings as well. Some of the scenes included enjoyment of each scene like some scenes being beautiful. Comedic laughter from some of the characters like Glinda, played by Ariana Grande, and other surprising moments. The end of the movie was filled with sadness. It was a mix of feelings from all of these things that kept me engaged until the end.

In comparison to the original the only critique is that, “Wicked: For Good” progressed slowly. The movie starts off gradually, and maintains this slow pace throughout its entire two hour runtime. It affects the entirety of the movie which could be perceived as long and boring for some viewers, but it was still worth the time to watch to know what happens at the end.
The musicality was amazing in scenes throughout the movie. The musical scenes enhanced the vividness of the film by making it a beautiful sensory experience to watch and listen — making it one of my favorite movies.
With Glinda by her side, Elphaba met with the Wizard of Oz to make a deal. This scene featured the OzDust ballroom where they were dancing and singing to the song “Wonderful,” which they recorded live. The beautiful use of lighting filled with color was an experience that triggered a sense of joy. Another admirable scene was the wedding of Glinda and Prince Fiyero, played by Jonathan Bailey. It was unlike anything I’ve seen before. The flowers, butterflies, and dramatic details of that scene felt magical.
The voice of Erivo — playing Elphaba — is absolutely breathtaking. The way she projected her voice to the audience brought her character to life. Elphaba’s song “No Good Deed,” was a powerful addition to the movie. You can feel Elphaba’s worries for Prince Fiyero, among the other characters she sang about. Grande — playing Glinda — showcased her opera skills with the song, “The Girl in the Bubble.” This was my favorite song of her character role.
Together, both contrasting vocal performances by Erivo and Grande’s range of talent were heartfelt and complimented their characters so much more deeply with their application of music. The movie soundtrack and skills were incredible, worthy of being part of my personal collection.
Overall, it was worth watching the movie because it was beyond beautiful in so many ways. The storyline was amazing and it gets viewers emotionally invested. It was one of the most beautiful movies that I have ever seen — it is a must-watch movie.
