ICv2: Cryptozoic to Release ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Game’

Cryptozoic Entertainment, in collaboration with property holder Radial Entertainment, has launched a Kickstarter campaign with retailer tier for Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Game, planned for fulfillment in October 2026.  The game is inspired by the TV series created by Joel Hodson, which first aired in 1988 and ran 240 episodes through 2023, including two seasons at Netflix in the mid-10s (see “’MST3K’”).

Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Game is for up to eight players; one serves as the Mads, who selects Movie Moment cards that provide the movie images for players to riff on as characters from the Satellite of Love.  Players joke about the films using Riff cards or originals they write on dry-erase cards. The Mads chooses the best joke and the winning player moves a standee around the Scoreboard of Love.  Movies are drawn from the Roger Corman New Horizons library, or from public domain titles like Night of the Living Dead, Plan 9 from Outer Space, and House on Haunted Hill.

The campaign also includes the Bonus Features Expansion, with 50 additional Riff cards and 30 Movie Moment cards from 15 additional films not in the base game.

Cryptozoic Entertainment CEO Shahriar Fouladi laid out the goal of the game.  “We set out to create a game that feels authentically MST3K: packed with beloved characters, wonderfully cheesy movies, and endless opportunities to riff with friends,” he said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
