This time of year often inspires a closet purge—the need to start the New Year on an organized or well-curated foot. I can count on one hand the categories that historically have avoided the donation pile, and my Adidas sneaker collection is one of them. My daily step count is impressive (humble brag), so I require footwear that can withstand wear and tear while remaining stylish. For me, Adidas checks those boxes.
I’ve acquired numerous pairs throughout the years, and there are five key styles I’ll be living in come 2026: the OG Samba for its ability to go with nearly every ensemble; the Japan for its lightweight feel and bold colorway; the Tokyo for a retro vibe that makes me feel like one of the cool Gen Z kids who hang out on the Lower East Side; the Gazelle for its on-trend suede texture; and lastly, the SL 72, which looks just as cute with my Pilates set as it does with my office suit. To shop my favorite sneakers, keep reading.
The Samba OGs that you can buy today have stayed true to the Adidas legacy and signature style. The low profile, suede overlays, gum sole, and iconic three stripes make this a timeless footwear choice.
The Japan Shoe resurgence is my personal favorite of 2025. This reissued style is a nod to the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo. They currently come in four additional colorways on site.
Wearing this style is like walking on air. It’s thin and lightweight, and its cool, retro silhouette is inspired by the ’70s. If bolder colorways aren’t your style, these come in neutrals too.

Gazelle Indoor Shoes
With suede sneakers trending this season, I recommend investing in the Gazelle. You can’t be the price point compared to other suede sneakers on the market.
This is another archival silhouette from the ’70s. (Are you sensing a theme here?) Whether adidas started the retro sneaker trend of the last few years is up for debate, but what I do know is that no other brand has churned out so many trending styles in one year.
