AXS TV has shared a throwback video along with the following message:
“KISS legend Gene Simmons explains how there will never be another band like The Beatles because the music industry has changed too much and it’s gotten too diluted.”
According to The Hill, KISS singer/bassist, Gene Simmons, will testify before a Senate panel next week on legislation to require radio corporations to pay performers for playing their music, the musicFIRST Coalition announced on Tuesday.
Simmons will testify on the American Music Fairness Act before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property on December 9, two days after he is set to receive the Kennedy Center Honors with his band.
“Having spent my career in the music and entertainment industry, I understand the vital importance of this issue,” Simmons said in a statement. “The American Music Fairness Act represents sound public policy. Artists must be properly compensated for their creative work.”
“I look forward to meeting with both Republican and Democratic Senators to discuss why this legislation is crucial for thousands of present and future American recording artists,” he continued.
Simmons will testify alongside Michael Huppe, the president and CEO of SoundExchange, which is a nonprofit that collects and distributes digital streaming royalties to artists. Huppe has been a leading advocate of the legislation, which aims to compel AM/FM radio to pay performers to play their music, as other streaming platforms do.
