In Round 9 of the Greek Basket League, Olympiacos claimed a home victory against AEK with a final score of 100-93.
Olympiacos played today without Evan Fournier, who is recovering from a virus. In addition to him, Shaquille McKissic and Mustapha Fall were also out.
Both teams entered this round after a long competitive break. Following the international break for national teams, Olympiacos also had their EuroLeague game against Fenerbahce postponed last week. Their last official game was on November 26, against Crvena Zvezda in the EuroLeague. AEK, on the other hand, played their most recent competitive game on November 15, against Marousi in the Greek League.
Olympiacos secured the win thanks to an incredible second quarter. Although they trailed by six points after the opening period, they erased the deficit quickly. The second quarter ended 33–12 in favor of the Piraeus team.
In the second half, they managed to maintain the advantage they had built. AEK threatened in the fourth quarter and managed to cut the deficit to single digits, but that was as far as they could go. In the end, the home team reached the 100-point mark.
