Suited up secondhand: Students on campus style clothes with sustainability
Fashion is more than just the fit. There’s an experience behind it, whether you think about how an outfit was curated or how a piece was hand-made.
With a number of trends sweeping through social media throughout the past few years, fast fashion’s rapid production of trendy styles has had it’s impact.
From pollutants in rivers and streams, to washed up microfibers in the ocean, speeding through clothes is more than just a dollar spent. However, within the past few years, sustainability is trying to run its course.
Gen Z in particular gravitates toward thrifting as a form of sustainability in the fashion world. It’s a healthy trend booming across social media, inspiring other to get local and find hand-me-down, timeless pieces.
Students at El Camino are involved, fleshing out fits designed to their personal styles with sustainability in the back of their minds.
