A new Ranked Battles season is coming, offering Trainers an opportunity to sharpen and test their skills. Pokémon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battles Season 4 runs from Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. PST to Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 5:59 p.m. PST. During this period, these four-player, real-time online battles will have you challenging Trainers from around the world. To learn the basics of Ranked Battles, check out our Ranked Battles Startup Guide. When you compete, you’ll earn points based on your performance, which will raise your rank. You’ll start off at Rank Z, and you can be promoted all the way to the ultimate Rank A.
For Trainers that reach Rank S during this season, a special reward of Baxcalibrite, which is used to Mega Evolve Baxcalibur into Mega Baxcalibur, is waiting. This item can’t be obtained through normal gameplay, so don’t miss out! Chesnaughtite, Delphoxite, and Greninjite—the Mega Stones required to Mega Evolve Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja, respectively—will also be redistributed as promotion rewards during Season 4. Chesnaughtite can be earned by reaching Rank U, Delphoxite can be earned by reaching Rank W, and Greninjite can be earned by reaching Rank Y.
There are three types of rewards for Ranked Battles: battle rewards, promotion rewards, and season rewards. You’ll receive battle rewards at the end of each battle (regardless of your performance), and promotion rewards are earned when you advance to the next rank. Battle rewards and promotion rewards include useful items for training Pokémon—such as Mega Shards, which can be exchanged for Mega Stones. The final type of reward is season rewards, which are based on the ranking at which you finish when the season concludes. The full list of these rewards is below.
Eligible Pokémon for Ranked Battles Season 4 includes Lumiose Pokédex No. 001–227 and Hyperspace Pokédex No. 001–112. You can register Pokémon from Lv. 1 to Lv. 100, but all Pokémon will automatically be set to Lv. 50 during battles. No more than one Pokémon with the same Pokédex number may be used.
Pokémon are allowed to hold items, though no duplicate held items are allowed.

To start a Ranked Battle, follow these steps:

Launch your Pokémon Legends: Z-A game.

Press the X Button to open the main menu.

Select Link Play.

Select Ranked Battles.
You will need to finish at least one match with a win or loss during Season 4 to be eligible for season rewards at the end of the season. To receive your in-game season rewards, follow these steps:

After the season has ended, launch your Pokémon Legends: Z-A game.

Press the X Button to open the main menu.

Select Link Play.

Select Ranked Battles.
