With demand from Slovenian travelers on the rise, Greece is strengthening its air connections from Athens to Ljubljana in summer 2026.
The announcement was made by AEGEAN representative, Philippos Liritis, during a special early-December event in Ljubljana, where he confirmed the airline’s plans to add a third weekly Athens-Ljubljana flight in June.
The event, hosted by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and the Greek Embassy, brought together leading tour operators, travel agents, journalists, influencers and representatives from airports and airlines.
The gathering highlighted Greece’s status as the second most popular destination among Slovenians, with strong interest in outdoor and nature-based activities.

During the event, Greek Ambassador to Slovenia Argiris Makris underlined the importance of expanding tourist flows between the two countries, noting Greece’s growing appeal to Slovenian travelers.
Building on this momentum, George Kakoutis, head of the GNTO office in Serbia, outlined the organization’s 2025–2028 strategic plan, underlining sustainable development, multi-themed tourism offerings and the key experiences available across Greece’s regions.
The event concluded with a Greek lunch, providing attendees with the opportunity for direct networking and further strengthening ties between Greek and Slovenian tourism stakeholders.
