Greece’s public sector union ADEDY on Friday announced a 24-hour nationwide strike for December 16, the day Parliament is scheduled to vote on the 2026 state budget, while expressing full solidarity with farmers staging nationwide protests.
“Everyone should join the December 16 strike rallies organized by federations, labor associations and unions against the state budget and in support of the farmers’ blockades,” ADEDY said in a statement.
The Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) also said it would shut municipal offices on December 16 and urged local officials to join a protest outside Parliament. The mobilization aims to secure increased state funding for municipalities.
