Timberwolves vs. Nuggets prediction: NBA picks, odds, best bet for Christmas Day

Closing out the NBA’s five-game Christmas Day schedule are the Minnesota Timberwolves (20-10) and Denver Nuggets (21-8).

Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves have won three straight games, including a 115-104 victory over the Knicks on Tuesday

The Nuggets have come back to earth, going 1-2 in their last three games before starting December with a six-game win streak.

Edwards, alongside former Knicks Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, was a Game 7 win away from clinching the NBA Finals last season.

In fact, Minnesota has lost in the Western Conference Finals in back-to-back seasons.

The two-way prowess of Edwards is evident. He seems to take it to another level come playoff time, and in 2024, the Nuggets experienced it firsthand.

Edwards crushed the Nuggets’ hopes of a title repeat, helping the Wolves advance to the West Finals back in the 2023-24 playoffs.

The Nuggets might’ve taken that personally, as Denver has prevailed over Minnesota by double digits in two regular-season games so far this season.

Nikola Jokic is a man of few words, but if he asked for a specific gift this Christmas, it might be Rudy Gobert and the Timberwolves’ defense.

Betting on the NBA?

The three-time MVP has dominated Gobert throughout his career, including a 61-point triple-double last season in a Nuggets’ double-overtime win over the Wolves.

Known for his versatility on the offensive end, Jokic has recorded a triple-double in three straight contests against the Wolves. With 178 in his career, the talented center is closing in on Oscar Robertson’s second-place mark on the all-time list.

Chris Finch simply doesn’t have an answer for the 2023 NBA Finals MVP, and with Jamal Murray playing at an All-Star level for him to kick it out to, I like this trend to continue.

The Play: Nikola Jokic to record a triple double (-115, bet365)
