The NBA used to have the best Christmas Day jerseys.

Now, those uniforms are a thing of the past.

Teams can pull out a flashier look if they want on Christmas, but it usually comes from their regular catalog of options.

There are no longer those awesome, once-a-year creations by the NBA that only got worn by the teams playing on Christmas Day.

Why did the NBA get rid of special Christmas Day jerseys?

The Christmas Day jerseys were phased out when the NBA went from adidas jerseys to Nike jerseys.

There’s no publicly stated reason for the change.

It was likely deemed inefficient to create a look that would only be worn once.

But it did add something special to the occasion.

At least players can still break out some colorful shoes to really spruce things up on Christmas.
