Next year looks like it’s going to be an incredible one for movie lovers! It’s packed with sequels and surprises, so here’s our list of the most anticipated flicks coming in 2026.
The Rip – Streaming Jan. 16 on Netflix
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck star as Miami cops who discover millions in cash at a stash house, and as word gets out, trust among the squad begins to fray. This heart-pounding thriller is one of Netflix’s most anticipated films of the year.
Scream 7 – Only in theaters Feb. 27
Neve Campbell is back as Sidney Prescott in yet another face-off against Ghostface. Former stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega won’t be returning, but fans will see the return of Gail Weathers, played by Courteney Cox.
The Bride! – Only in theaters Mar. 6
Maggie Gyllenhaal directs a new twist on 1935’s “The Bride of Frankenstein.” Set in 1930s Chicago, the film centers on a young woman who is murdered and then brought back to life by Frankenstein, portrayed by Christian Bale. The dark tale also stars Jessie Buckley, Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening and Penélope Cruz.
Project Hail Mary – Only in theaters Mar. 20
Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace, an astronaut who wakes up all alone in a space station with no memory of who he is or why he’s there. Upon regaining his memory, he learns he must travel to the Tau Ceti system to stop a cosmic event that’s plunging Earth into a new ice age.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie – Only in theaters Apr. 3
The sequel to 2023’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” follows Mario as he journeys to what he believes is space. Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jack Black return to voice the iconic Nintendo characters.
Michael – In theaters Apr. 24
Director Antoine Fuqua explores the life of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Michael’s real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson, portrays his uncle in the biopic, offering audiences a look at the global rise of the music legend. Nia Long, Colman Domingo, Laura Harrier, and Larenz Tate round out the cast.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 – In theaters May 1
Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs are at it once again as Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway reprise their roles from the 2006 iconic comedy. Twenty years later, their characters’ rivalry reignites as they compete for advertising revenue. The returning cast also includes Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Gorgu – In theaters May 22
Instead of a fourth season of “The Mandalorian,” Disney opted for a standalone film, bringing the “Star Wars” franchise back to theaters for the first time since 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.” Pedro Pascal is back as Din Djarin, Jeremy Allen White joins the film as Rotta the Hutt, and Sigourney Weaver plays Colonel Ward, a former Rebel pilot and New Republic leader.
Disclosure Day – In theaters June 12
Steven Spielberg returns to his sci-fi roots with a mysterious new movie. Much of the plot is top secret, but we do know it involves a UFO and an all-star cast including Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell.
Scary Movie 6 – In theaters June 12
Shawn and Marlon Wayans have teamed up to bring the “Scary Movie” franchise back to our screens! The siblings, along with older brother Keenan, co-wrote the film with Rick Alvarez, who worked with the brothers on “Scary Movie 2.”
Toy Story 5 – In theaters June 19
Buzz, Woody, and the gang are back to face a new challenge: kids are replacing toys with gadgets, and the made of plastic crew must do something about it! The rest of the details are scarce, but Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return to voice their beloved characters.
Supergirl – In theaters June 26
“House of Dragons” actress Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. The story follows Supergirl as she travels the galaxy with Krypto the Superdog and aids a young woman on a quest for revenge.
Minions 3: Mega Minions – In theaters July 1
Steve Carell and Pierre Coffin reprise their roles as Gru and the Minions. Little is known about the plot, but it promises to be a fun family movie.
Moana – In theaters July 10
“Moana” is the latest Disney film to get the live-action treatment. Newcomer Catherine Laga’aia will play the titular character, while Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returns as Maui, whom he voiced in the two animated films.
The Odyssey – In theaters July 17
Oscar-winner Christopher Nolan follows up “Oppenheimer” with an adaptation of Homer’s “The Odyssey,” which tells the story of Odysseus (Matt Damon) in the aftermath of the Trojan War. The star-studded cast also features Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Mia Goth, and Charlize Theron.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day – In theaters July 31
Tom Holland returns for Peter Parker’s next adventure, alongside Zendaya and Jacob Batalon. The action-packed sequel follows the web-slinger as he tries to focus on college and leave Spider-Man behind, but a new threat forces Spidey to suit up again.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping – In theaters Nov. 20
Set between “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” and the first “Hunger Games” movie, the story features a younger Haymitch as he grapples with the aftermath of his family’s murder by President Snow.
Jumanji 3 – In theaters Dec. 11
Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Karen Gillan are teaming up again for the franchise’s third installment. Hart indicated that this would be the final film of the rebooted adventure-comedy, but a big win at the box office could change that.
Avengers: Doomsday – In theaters Dec. 18
The first trailer for the new “Avengers” movie reveals Captain America (Chris Evans) returning to the franchise. The film also features the “New Avengers,” a team led by Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), and characters from across the multiverse, including the original X-Men and the current Fantastic Four. Together, they must battle Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
Dune: Part 3 – In theaters Dec. 25
Set 12 years after “Dune,” the third chapter in the sci-fi epic follows Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and the dark consequences of his reign as emperor. Zendaya, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Florence Pugh reprise their roles, while Robert Pattinson joins the cast in a villain role.
2026 looks like it’s going to be one of the best years for movie theaters!
