Kilgore church to host free New Year’s Eve Gospel music event

A Kilgore church has scheduled a free Gospel music event on New Year’s Eve.
The Celebration of Gospel will take place at the Faith Tabernacle Church, 1309 E. Texas 31. Doors open at 8 p.m., and music begins at 8:30 p.m. The event will end at midnight.
The event first took place in 2017. Event coordinator Daniell Kenney said it’s meant to give people something to do on New Year’s Eve.
“East Texas usually is pretty much dead on New Year’s Eve, even in the church community,” Kenney said. “A lot of them have watch services, but we wanted to make the ultimate event that people can come and share – and don’t have to be by themselves on New Year’s Eve.”
Performers at this year’s event include Byron Cage, a Grammy nominee, Stellar Award Winner and Soul Train Music Award winner; the Gospel Legends; the New Keynotes featuring Teddy Cross; the Texas Boyz; and Wendell Huckaby.
Kenney said the show will have high-quality production, including stage lights and sound engineering. It’ll be a “great time,” he said.
