Wilt Chamberlain’s scoring records are the kind that pretty much don’t make sense. You look at some of the numbers and they seem impossible to believe.

Golden State Warriors legend Stephen Curry has approached Wilt on an incredible leaderboard.
The key qualifier here is games where a player attempts at least 10 free throws.
The stat: points per game.
The all-time leader in points per game in which a player shot at least 10 free throws is Wilt Chamberlain, at 38.0 points per game.
Curry is second all-time at 37.5 points per game.
The sharpshooter was 11-for-11 from the foul line on Sunday as he scored 39 points against the Toronto Raptors.

Despite a great game from Curry, the Warriors lost to the Raptors by 12 (in part because Scottie Barnes went for 23-25-10).

It does make a lot of sense for Curry. He doesn’t shoot a lot of free throws relative to other high scorers.
So in games when he does get to the line, he’s probably cooking particularly well and also getting a lot of points from elsewhere on the floor.

Curry also is the NBA’s all-time free throw percentage leader, so he makes the high majority of his freebies in games he gets to the line a lot, which certainly helps him add to the point total.
It’s just one more example of Curry being amazing.
