Jaylen Brown scores 37 points, joining Larry Bird as the only players in Celtics history to score 30-plus points in 9 straight games.
Jaylen Brown is playing through one of the greatest scoring streaks in Celtics history.
The four-time All-Star and 2024 NBA Finals MVP has scored 30 points in nine straight games, a feat accomplished only once in Boston’s storied franchise history.
Two days after Brown poured in 30 points on 13-for-20 shooting in Friday’s 140-122 victory against Indiana, he dropped 37 on 14-for-23 in Sunday’s 114-108 loss to the Blazers.
Hall-of-Fame forward Larry Bird scored 30 in nine straight games during the 1985 season, and Brown will have a chance to surpass Bird’s best streak when the Celtics play on the road against the Jazz on Tuesday.
Only one player this season has had a longer such streak: Lakers guard Luka Dončić. The NBA scoring leader erupted for 30 points in nine straight games (Nov. 15-Dec.12).
The Celtics are 6-3 during Brown’s 30-point scoring streak.
Brown broke out for a season-high 42 points on 16-for-24 shooting in the first game of the streak, a 123-117 win over the Knicks on December 12.
He’s scored exactly 30 points five times in his last nine games, and he’s shooting 50.1% (316-for-625) over the life of his streak.
Brown hasn’t hit more than three 3-pointers in any game during the streak. The last time he scored fewer than 30 points came on November 30. But in the three games before that one, Brown scored 41, 33 and 35.
