Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic is on the verge of becoming the cornerstone of every NBA record. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, Shaquille O’Neal, and now Nikola Jokic. These are some of the names you’ll see in almost every NBA record. Jokic has been in the league for 11 years now.
He has been averaging 29.9 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 11.1 assists this season. The 7x All-Star is on his way to another MVP-worthy season. After three MVP awards, Jokic has already established himself as one of the greatest players in NBA history, and he still has a long way to go.
Nikola Jokić holds multiple NBA records. He is the first player with a 50-point triple-double on Christmas. He had 56 points, 16 rebounds, and 15 assists against Anthony Edwards’ Timberwolves. He is also the fastest player to 16,000 points, 8,000 rebounds, and 5,000 assists. He has also become the only center with 30/20/20 triple-doubles. And many more.
Nikola Jokic is also the only player to have 20 points, 25 rebounds, and 10 assists in a game in the last 40 years. However, things have changed recently. Toronto Raptors’ Scottie Barnes recently had a ridiculously unbelievable game against Stephen Curry’s Warriors.
Scottie Barnes pulled up a historic triple-double performance against the Warriors in the Raptors’ 141-127 OT win. In 42 minutes, he had 23 points, 25 rebounds, and 10 assists, becoming only the second player after Jokic in the last 40 years to score 20 points, 25 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The 24-year-old center became the first player in Raptors’ history to have a 20-20 triple-double. He also tied for the most rebounds (25) in Raptors’ history.
Barnes is averaging 19.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in 32 games so far this season. He won the 2021-22 Rookie of the Year award. In over five years in the NBA so far, he has earned one All-Star inclusion. He seems to be on the way towards his second All-Star season. This game against the Warriors was just another example of his brilliant form.
