This hand-built muscle car from ExoMod looks like a 1969 Daytona, runs like a 2022 Hellcat, and might be one of Barrett Jackson’s strangest listings

  • ExoMod turned a Challenger into a Daytona tribute.
  • Hellcat’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 still makes 797 hp.
  • It’s going to auction in January with Barrett Jackson.

Every now and then, a build comes along that forces a double take, even if you’re not sure whether you love it or not. Two years back, ExoMod unveiled a custom 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye dressed up as a 1969 Dodge Daytona.

That very same car is now heading to auction in mid-January. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s no denying that it’s striking.

It took ExoMod around 3,500 hours to turn the modern-day Challenger into a full Daytona tribute. Every original body panel was swapped for hand-shaped carbon fiber, panel by panel, until not a trace of factory sheet metal remained.

From Muscle Car to Carbon Fiber One-Off

No doubt the craziest part of the design is the front-end where the tuner has crafted a new nose, similar to the classic Daytona. However, whereas the Daytona’s front end is sleek and aggressive, this one looks bulbous and weird.

With this being said, the muscle car does have some nice angles. Found at the rear is a towering wing just like the original, as well as exposed carbon fiber around the taillights. There’s also a carbon fiber rear diffuser and dual exhausts exiting out from the center of the bumper.

Thanks to the new panels, this Challenger now sits 4 inches wider than the original 1969 model, but is 5.5-inches shorter. Somewhat disappointing is the fact that the interior has been kept mostly standard, although the seats and door panels have been retrimmed.

ExoMod also chose not to mess with the Hellcat’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. Not that it really needed to. It still continues to pump out 797 hp, which is more than enough to frighten some million-dollar supercars at the traffic lights.

The original eight-speed automatic transmission remains as well, sending power to massive 315/35 ZR20 rear tires.

Barrett Jackson is handling the sale of the car and notes that it was awarded the Super Street/Modified Blue Ribbon Award at the 2023 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, earning 998 out of a possible 1,000 points.
