What to Know About Its Chic Denim

Hello, dear readers! It’s me, your self-described denim aficionado from the ELLE shopping team. I’ve come to share good news: I’ve stumbled upon some really good denim, and you’re going to want to take note (trust me on this, guys).

You might be familiar with the Los Angeles fashion brand, Jamie Haller. I can’t recommend the brand’s ultra-comfortable shoes enough (the Penny Loafers and the Mules are my personal favorites), but now the brand is coming for more of my closet’s real estate—and after trying its jeans, I’m making more room than expected. Why, you ask? Because while I already have incredible jeans in my rotation, I’m working to cut down my closet a bit and focus on more of a capsule wardrobe this winter—and these are so great, they’re making the final cut.

This isn’t my first time owning a pair of jeans from Jamie Haller—I have a dramatically wide pair that made an appearance during New York Fashion Week a few seasons ago, but I’ve now found a couple of pairs that have convinced me that the brand is one to keep on your radar for high-quality (and ultra-flattering) denim: the Easy Jean and the Crease Jean. Now, I know everyone’s criteria for denim is different—some of you out there love a good stretch or even a pair of impeccably chic sweatpant jeans. But for anyone looking for a pair that, albeit more rigid, has that long-lasting feel that’ll make you want to hold onto them until you decide to pass them down: You need these.

Why do I love these so much? Well, for one, I’ve been slowly moving away from my wide-leg denim silhouettes and towards sleek straight-leg and bootcut styles. And for all the low-rise moments, I’m zipping myself back into rib-grazing waistbands—don’t ask me why; I can’t explain it. The Easy Jean feels exactly as it should—easy. Sure, the 100-percent cotton makeup makes it a bit more rigid, but it loosens up throughout the day without losing its shape. They’re a little long for my 5’4” frame, but with a kitten-heel boot, they were perfect. Also, I just felt really put-together wearing this pair—and honestly, isn’t that the point?
