LG smart TVs are pretty well-known in the industry for being really good for gaming, but you don’t hear much about how its TVs actually give players access to games without hooking up a console or a gaming PC, which is what LG makes possible through its gaming portal. This week, LG has announced new games coming to the gaming portal in an attempt to bring more fun experiences to hardcore gamers and casual players alike. Although LG’s announcement seems a little more skewed toward the casual gamer crowd this time around.
“LG continues to expand its Gaming Portal by offering more than 4,000 cloud-based games and 600 casual titles, presenting compelling gaming experiences directly on LG Smart TVs. By delivering elevated, device-free gaming, LG provides new and engaging ways to enjoy games on the large screens, brought by a growing ecosystem of studios and creators,” LG says.
One of the new games coming to the LG Gaming Portal is Just Dance Now
Just Dance Now isn’t a new game in terms of release, as it was launched by Ubisoft all the way back in late 2014. However, it is new to the LG Gaming Portal. LG smart TV owners will be able to boot the game up on the TV directly through the TV’s WebOS platform, as long as that TV is running on at least WebOS 22.
The game is launching in the US, Sweden, Australia, and Norway to start, although LG says it’ll be launching in countries across Europe in the following weeks. Users also won’t need controllers to play the game. LG confirms it will work with the LG Magic Remote, so you really won’t need any extra equipment. You can also play the game on Android devices, as it’s available on the Play Store.
LG is also launching Asphalt Legends Unite in the Gaming Portal in partnership with Blacknut. This will also use the Magic Remote for controls, with directional interactions being handled by the remote’s up, down, left, and right keys. This only appears to be available in the US for now. Additionally, LG is partnering with Volley to launch a variety of voice AI games, starting with Jeopardy! and Song Quiz.
