GREECE, N.Y – Timothy Miller, a 59-year-old leader of the nonprofit Operation Caring Hearts, was identified by Greece police as the victim of a fatal crash at the intersection of Elmgrove Road and Deming Street on Saturday.
Miller, known for his dedication to helping homeless veterans, was reportedly assisting a veteran in need of housing at the time of the accident.

Miller’s fiancée, Rebecca Mearns, expressed her disbelief and sorrow over his sudden death on Tuesday.
“I say to myself that this can’t be real and that he will walk through that door and say, honey, what’s for dinner? But then that day never comes. I’m just heartbroken, numb,” Mearns said.
The couple, who met 20 years ago, were planning to get married in March.
Mearns described Miller as “the kindest, caring, loving person you ever wanna meet,” noting his ability to positively impact others even without meeting them in person.
Mike Rosato, a veteran who was touched by Miller’s work, echoed these sentiments.
“The thing that struck me about him is that he and his fiancé, Rebecca, are so incredibly selfless and dedicated to this mission,” Rosato said.
Miller was a vice president of Operation Caring Hearts and was actively involved in feeding the homeless and assisting veterans.
Greece police stated that the cause of the crash remains under investigation, but no charges are expected.
The second driver involved sustained minor injuries.
