Greece’s national robotics team, HELLAS IROC TEAM, has returned from the Gold Coast with significant international honors following their participation in the 27th International Robot Olympiad (IROC 2025).

Competing with elite athletes, the Greek delegation secured:

  • 3 Gold Medals
  • 3 Bronze Medals
  • 11 Technical Awards

These distinctions are a testament to systematic preparation, expert coaching, and the exemplary sportsmanship of the athletes. The results confirm that Athletic Robotics has evolved into a modern field of competition and technological excellence where Greece consistently emerges as a global leader.

Founded in 1998 IROC it is one of the oldest and most established international robotics tournaments in the world. It brings together students (ranging from elementary to high school and occasionally university levels) from over 38 member countries. Unlike many purely academic science fairs, the IROC treats robotics like a sport. It emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and high-pressure performance, which is why participants are often referred to as “athletes.”

Greece has the skill to compete at the highest level in robotics

Emmanouil Tselepis, President of the Greek National Robotic Sports Team said: “Greece went to Australia to compete and returned with six medals. This isn’t luck—it’s the result of hard work. Our 3 Gold and 3 Bronze medals, alongside 11 Technical Awards, prove that our National Team possesses the skill, the strategy, and the character to compete at the highest level. We want this success to be a catalyst: more children, more training, and more international summits. Our goal is clear—to see Greece on the podium again in 2026.”

“At IROC, nothing is handed to you. You win only if you are mentally and physically prepared,” said head coach Nikolaos Tzamtzis.  Our athletes remained calm, disciplined, and decisive, which is exactly what brought the medals. Most importantly, we aren’t looking back. Work begins today for the next step. The Greek National Robotic Sports Team is capable of even greater things.”
