Kick Off 2026 with Pokémon GO’s New Year’s 2026 Event


Whether your 2026 New Year’s resolution is to catch more Pokémon, improve your battle skills, or just enjoy some colorful fireworks while playing Pokémon GO, the New Year’s 2026 event will help you start the new year on the right foot. From December 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. to January 4, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time, Pokémon GO’s New Year’s festivities will light up the skies with festive fireworks. Keep an eye out for costumed Pokémon dressed to impress including Bulbasaur wearing a party hat, Pikachu wearing a party top hat, Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon, and Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit.

In addition to holiday festivities, the number of Lucky Pokémon Trainers can receive through trading will increase from 35 to 45 beginning with this event. If you trade a Pokémon that has been in Pokémon storage since 2020, it is guaranteed to become a Lucky Pokémon until the limit is reached.

Dive into the new year with Field Research and paid Timed Research. Trainers will earn Stardust for completing event-themed Field Research. Paid Timed Research is available for US$1.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). Tasks must be completed and rewards claimed by January 4, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. The rewards for completing paid Timed Research include two Premium Battle Passes, 3,000 Stardust, and encounters with Pikachu wearing a party top hat.
