Babydoll Tops

As the popular Y2K style resurfaces, along with the ever-trending “soft girl” aesthetic, the return of the infamous babydoll tops is inevitable. Racks are stocked with new styles, colors and patterns daily in various stores, attracting women, particularly teenagers, looking for a shirt that is both cute and comfortable.

Paired with any bottoms from jeans to sweatpants, depending on the style and “look” an individual is going for, this top combines a feeling of both innocent femininity and flirtatious elements. Embracing their inner child, the babydoll top provides a tight upper half, creating a flattering neckline but quickly flares out into a playful and flowy lower half that is comfortable on the stomach area while still creating a romantic silhouette.

Unlike the crop tops popular in the early 2000s, female clothing has appeared to move away from restrictive garments into a new style that embraces breathability and relaxation. Curiosity sparks in designers as they wonder what is next in store for the female fashion industry.

Vintage Hollister Comeback

Although the early Hollister style of low-rise jeans, fur-lined hooded jackets and button-up Henleys was extremely popular back in the early 2000s, it met its downfall in the 2010s. However, in 2025, a comeback was far overdue, with many fans of the brand desperately searching for the iconic vintage items among the racks of second-hand stores. Hollister took note of this and decided to launch its “2000s Vault Collection” to appeal to the millennial generation that longed for the style of their teenage years, and the Gen Z fans of the vintage look.

But Hollister wasn’t just re-releasing their old items; they instead put a new spin on their iconic pieces, making them slightly more modern, as well as inclusive. Customers had mixed opinions on the rebranding of the items, as some felt that the clothes didn’t have the same vintage feel as their predecessors. Despite this, the collection quickly flew off the shelves as it was released just in time for back-to-school shopping.

Whether you’re a millennial getting a taste of nostalgia or a Gen Z who wishes they were born in a different generation, the Hollister comeback has something to offer for all.

The Rise of Baggy Pants

Students are leaning towards clothes that have greater comfort and a looser fit. Baggy jeans and cargo pants inspired by the 90s and early 2000s have become increasingly popular, especially among teenagers, as they are roomy and come in a variety of styles.

These baggy pants are found in low-rise, mid-rise and high-rise with an assortment of different washes. They can be bought as distressed or ripped with frayed edges, and are even available with embroidered design patches commonly found on the back pockets. Their loose and relaxed fit makes a breathable design, which teenagers particularly appreciate. Girls and boys alike choose oversized shirts or sweaters for a baggy-on-baggy look, or girls pair these pants with a tighter blouse for a tight-on-baggy appearance.

Many students are swapping out clothes in their closet for baggy pants as a relaxing replacement. The loose fit is becoming more favorable due to the breathability, comfort and, not to mention, the different options for embellishments. Not only is this style convenient for students, but it also evokes nostalgia for the 1990s and early 2000s along with it.
