As a national holiday, some stores and services won’t be open on New Year’s Day. Is the stock market open on New Year’s Day? Here’s what to know about the New York Stock Exchange New Year’s Day hours.

New Year’s Day is a federal holiday; both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market will be closed.

Here are the NYSE holiday hours for the rest of the year. Nasdaq follows the same hours:

Both markets will also be closed on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Jan. 19 and again on Presidents Day on Feb. 16.

New Year’s Day falls on Jan. 1 every year.

New Year’s Day is listed as one of 11 federal U.S. holidays, according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

Most federal workers and private sector workers are entitled to paid holiday time off.
