Pasadena’s Tuesday Musicale, founded in 1914, will present a free concert on Tuesday, January 6, at 12:30 p.m. at the First Church of Christ Scientist, 80 S Oakland Avenue, in Pasadena, in the Sunday School Room.

The program features a Beethoven String Trio, Opus 9 #2, performed by violinist Svetlana Oganesian, violist Tammy Cognetta, and cellist Judy Cain. Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) wrote this trio during a period of significant compositional output.

The program continues with “Fantasy from La Sonnambula” by Franz Liszt, performed by duo-pianists Geraldine Keeling and Agatha Hou. Vocalist Carol Lande, soprano, and David Frank, baritone, will perform selections from “Oklahoma,” “The Music Man,” and “Kismet.” The concert concludes with a “Sonata for flute & piano” by Francis Poulenc, performed by flutist Monika Curlin and pianist Laraine Madden.

According to Tuesday Musicale’s mission statement, the organization aims “to promote the knowledge, performance, and enjoyment of music by its members and to promote interest in music throughout the Pasadena community.”

The organization presents monthly concerts on the first Tuesday of each month from October through June. Tuesday Musicale also sponsors Crown City Symphony, a community orchestra founded in 2002 and conducted by Paul Sherman.

Concerts have relocated from the Pasadena Central Public Library’s Donald R. Wright Auditorium, which is closed for seismic retrofitting.

Admission is free. Free parking is available behind the church.

Tuesday Musicale in Concert will run on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. First Church of Christ Scientist, 80 S. Oakland Ave., Pasadena. For more information, call (626) 797-1994 or visit https://tuesdaymusicaleca.org/public-events/.
