MTV’s music-only channels are no longer on the air


NEW YORK (CNN) – After 40 years, MTV’s music-only channels are now a thing of the past.

Those channels around the world, from the United Kingdom to Ireland, France, Australia and Brazil went dark Thursday.

And it ended just as it began, with the Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star” music video.

MTV’s main entertainment channel is still on the air in the United States. However, it recently canceled popular shows “Catfish” and “Ridiculousness.”
