The Detroit Pistons are starting to be named in trade rumors, and one name that has surfaced is Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr.

With the Pistons emerging as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, and the East being wide-open, it doesn’t feel like the wrong time to go out and make a relatively big move.

According to Zach Bachar of Bleacher Report, the Pistons are among the teams interested in Porter.

“According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls are all potential landing spots for Porter on the trade market.”

Detroit still lacks consistent shooting around Cade Cunningham and while it’s improved, Porter would immediately address the shooting concerns when healthy, if he can do what he’s done for a lot of his career.

He’s a proven 3-point shooter who can stretch the floor and take pressure off Cade Cunningham, which is important come playoff time.

Porter’s contract is big, and his injury history isn’t ideal, but Detroit is in a different position than most of the teams listed, and it might make sense for them to make this deal.

This wouldn’t be about Detroit going all in, unlike the Milwaukee Bucks. However, it would show them if the fit around Cunningham makes sense for future players.

Porter may not be a perfect fit, but for a Pistons team still searching for offense, the interest makes sense.
