- Choose cooling fabrics and styles, like cotton skirts, flowy blouses, or linen shorts, that easily elevate outfits without sacrificing comfort.
- Instead of sandals and sneakers, try comfortable, closed-toe shoes in classic styles, such as editor-favorite Birkenstock ballet flats.
- Rather than dressing up as a Disney character, incorporate polka dots, fun prints like leopard, and red-and-black motifs throughout your vacation wardrobe.
I was five years old the last time I vacationed at Disney World, and my only outfit concern was whether I could get away with wearing the same Cinderella dress for five days in a row. However, returning over two decades later, I had different priorities, including finding comfortable travel outfits for long days spent walking miles in the muggy Florida heat. Since I’m not really a Disney person, either, and hate wasting money on clothing I can’t rewear, I knew my vacation clothing had to be versatile enough to incorporate into my everyday life while still embodying the Disney theme.

While Disneywear is becoming fashionable, with luxury brands like Re/Done, Ganni, and Coach releasing limited-edition collabs, there are plenty of ways to dress for the theme park without buying logo-fied items. Plus, you can steal ideas from celebrity style, like copying Bella Hadid’s playful use of accessories and supportive footwear, or Gigi’s low-key travel look. Ahead, I’ve outlined the outfits that will work inside and out of the most Magical Place on Earth.

My one Disney-specific clothing item for the entire trip was a slightly oversized Mickey Mouse Lasso Vintage Tee from a brand worn by Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter. It’s subtle enough that I’d wear it again, especially considering that Western fashion is always trending. Like the Hadid sisters, I’m a long jorts apologist and knew I’d get a lot of wear out of the Madewell Essex Long Baggy Shorts, which are just loose enough to appear laid-back and cool, while still fitting well in the hips and thighs. Since the outfit reads pretty casual, accessorizing with a geometric-shaped purse and podiatrist-approved ballet flats in a celebrity-worn style, rather than a fanny pack and sneakers, helped make it more polished.
Day Two
To make the most of my graphic T-shirt and dress up the style, I rewore it with a cooling, 100 percent cotton Abercrombie loose maxi skirt and cinched the look with a braided belt, adding texture and giving my silhouette shape. The coordinating Reebok shoes created a fashionable, monochromatic moment, while staying on the “Disney red” theme. Plus, since this outfit already has a lot of volume, I loved how the slim, low-rise style didn’t add extra bulk.
Day 3

If you like attention from strangers, slip into the A&F Bra-Free Dylan Midi Dress and enjoy a steady stream of compliments from fellow park-goers, as I did. Despite the full skirt, midi-length, and corset-style top, which give it a formal look, the cotton dress was easily my most comfortable outfit, particularly since the brand designed it to be worn bra-free. The polka-dot pattern hits the Minnie Mouse motif nail on the head, so I mixed in some colorful hosiery, vintage-style sunglasses, and Mary Janes to make the entire outfit feel more like me than Minnie.
Day 4
If you can’t tell from the leopard-print bag and safari-style tan shorts-brown belt combo, this was my Animal Kingdom outfit. Since I’m not actually trying to camouflage myself, I incorporated a bright top that’s still thematically fitting, given its grass-green color. What’s best is the outfit’s functionality: The Baggu crossbody kept my belongings close, and the nylon material fully protected them from getting soaked on river raft rides. Plus, the Reformation Drew shorts are one of my favorite summer shorts, thanks to the breezy linen material and how the tailored cut gives them a more sophisticated look I can wear at work, too.
Day 5

The hotter it got, the fewer clothes I wanted to wear: I swapped my heavier denim for a cotton boxer and replaced my T-shirt with a breezier, flowy blouse that gave the overall look a romantic princess vibe. Meanwhile, the silk headscarf is a timeless accessory and keeps hair out of my face. Usually, jewelry is an afterthought on vacation, but the personalized Little Words Project necklace provided more color and texture to the outfit. Although mine is a nameplate, the brand offers a variety of Disney charms, should you want to subtly add some magic to your bracelet or necklace.
