As a born and raised New Yorker, I’m doing the one thing I swore I’d never do: moving to Los Angeles. Despite my lack of a driver’s license and inherent mistrust of people who seem too centered all the time, I fell in love with the palm trees, sunny skies and slower pace of the city. Will I let the laid-back West Coast transform my neurotic New York personality? That is yet to be determined. At the very least, though, I will let it transform my wardrobe.
Now that I’m ditching frigid temps and subway cars for dry heat and hiking trails, not to mention stepping into an entirely different style and social scene, there’s no question whether my closet is in need of a few updates. (After all, wearing head-to-toe black in 99-degree weather probably won’t make for the most pleasant experience.)
