A pair of national teams — one still vying for a spot in this summer’s World Cup and one that missed out on qualification — got new kits this week from their supplier, adidas.
Both Greece and Jamaica rolled out new jerseys over the course of the past week. Jamaica received new home and away kits, while Greece only unveiled their home kits.
The Jamaican kits are heavily involved by reggae legend Bob Marley and “a tribute to the vibrant spirit of reggae music and culture,” according to Adidas. The home kit is the country’s traditional, with a pattern of vinyl records across the front. The records are mostly tonal yellow, but are colored in black, green and red to form three stripes around the front of the jersey and one around each sleeve.
The sleeve cuffs, polo collar and shoulder stripes are all black. The jersey is depicted on adidas’ website paired with green shorts and yellow socks. The shorts have black trim that contains yellow, green and red records.
The away kit, meanwhile, is black with red, green and yellow abstract patterns on the bottom half representing sound waves, cassette reels and vinyl records. The green sound wave pattern also runs around each sleeve. The collar and sleeve cuffs are black with red trim, and the adidas shoulder stripes are red, yellow and green.
The away kit is paired with black shorts and socks, both the same red, yellow and green striping as the jersey’s shoulders.
Both kits have a “FOOTBALL IS FREEDOM” tag with a depiction of Bob Marley near the right front hem. The tag also on the back of the shorts, near the waist.
Meanwhile, Greece’s new home kits are the first to be rolled out under the country’s new contract with adidas, who they last partnered with between 2004 and 2012. The national teams wore Nike kits from 2013 to 2024.
The home kit base is Greece’s traditional white, with royal blue collars and sleeve cuffs with white pinstripes through the middle “reinforcing a timeless on-pitch aesthetic,” according to an adidas press release. The national team crest sits on the left chest, opposite the adidas logo.
Numbers on the front and back, as well as names on the back, are one-colour blue.
Greece unfortunately didn’t make it out the group stage of UEFA’s World Cup qualification tournament. The Reggae Boyz, meanwhile, will take part in the inter-continental playoffs in late March. They face new Caledonia on March 26 in Guadalajara, Mexico; if they win that match, they’ll play the Democratic Republic of Congo on March 31 for a berth in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
