A man died near Athens as a storm hit parts of Greece with hurricane-force winds and floods, and a dust storm from the Sahara covered the island of Crete, UNN reports with reference to the BBC.

According to the fire department, the man was found under a car in the rural area of Nea Makri early on Thursday morning.
Storm “Erminio” flooded streets, closed some schools, and paralyzed ferry operations. Meanwhile, some flights to Crete were disrupted on Wednesday after dust from the African storm hung in the air, coloring the sky red-orange.
According to the national meteorological service, bad weather is expected in most parts of the country on Thursday “with prolonged and intense rains and storms, and possibly hail in some places.”
In Crete, mainly in the west and south, a “red” warning is in effect from noon to late Thursday evening.
The fire department received 674 calls for help from Wednesday to Thursday morning. Most reports came from fallen trees in the Attica region, which includes Athens.
Due to strong winds, ferries remain docked in ports, and Greek media report that some flights may resume on Thursday if the weather improves.
