There’s really no time like Coachella time when it comes to festival fashion. Often referred to as “the influencer Olympics”, there’s certainly no shortage of people with platforms taking their style to the max over both weekends – DIY-ing custom outfits, theme-dressing to headliners, and decking themselves out in the latest garb from all your favourite brands.
We’ve already spotted some pretty distinct trends. We predicted last year that crochet fashion would be all the rage – a prediction that’s since come true. We’ve also spotted plenty of chainmail-style tops and skirts, decked out with chatelaine-style appendages like key chains and soft toys. Of course, footwear was dominated by the utilitarian – boots now reaching mid-calves instead of knee-skimming heights, and looser in fit (often with a bit more patina). Bandanas are never far from the heads, necks and faces of Coachella-goers, and this year was no exception (Timothee Chalamet was even spotted wearing a signature pink bandana over his face while watching Justin Bieber’s set). And the humble baseball cap has slowly made its own return – donned by both Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi respectively.
And while we’re only just closing in on the end of Coachella’s first weekend of debauchery and sonic genius – we’ve already been well-fed by the fashion from Indio Valley’s verdant fields. From K-Pop stars watching sets in the crowd, to fashion week mainstays trotting between stages – these are our favourite looks and fashion moments from Coachella Weekend One, below.
