You’ve likely spoken a sentence, or thought a thought, or dreamt up a passing fancy, and then paused to ponder if anyone anywhere, in all of history, had every strung the exact words or images together in the exact order you placed them.
It’s a unifying human experience, to wonder “am I the first?” when unique and creative situations arise.
And something unique, uplifting, future-forward, and get-fabulous is arising at The Music Center, starting Feb. 20: “The Music Center Presents ID: PT. III,” an interactive art installation from Iranian multimedia artist Armon Naeini.
Located in the Downtown Los Angeles cultural hub’s Digital Arts Space, the experience invites visitors to step before a motion tracking camera.
Then, every arm swirl, hip swivel, head tilt, and body roll “will be depicted on screens” via color, line, and movement.
“Movement” is the theme here, and the pen or paintbrush with which you’ll create your personal work of art: “Every movement creates something new and unforgettable!” shares The Music Center.
That means for every person stepping up to be part of the art, a novel experience will be the memorable result.
The Music Center’s Digital Innovation Initiative is presenting the two-month engagement as part of an effort to “… explore and create digital and immersive experiences that marry technology and the arts.”
Dancing, twirling, and shimmying from Feb. 20 through April 19, the installation will be open most days of the week, with closures on Mondays and Tuesdays.
It’s an evening thing, and there will be afternoon hours available on Saturdays and Sundays; be sure to make your reservation in advance for the free and free-spirited, get-expressive art activity.
