Anne Hathaway steals the spotlight in a semi-sheer dress at New York Fashion Week

Anne Hathaway proved once again that she’s fashion’s ultimate leading lady as she stepped out at Ralph Lauren’s New York Fashion Week show on Tuesday.

The Oscar-winning actress, 43, stole the spotlight in a dramatic semi-sheer black gown that felt equal parts gothic romance and high-fashion polish. The halterneck design featured delicate sheer striping throughout the fabric, subtly revealing glimpses of skin while maintaining an air of sophistication. The dress cascaded into soft, layered ruffles that pooled elegantly at her feet, creating a sweeping train that added instant red-carpet drama.

Anne elevated the look with a plush feathered wrap draped around her arms, the inky texture contrasting beautifully against the gauzy fabric of the gown. She accessorised with stacked rings and delicate bracelets, keeping the jewellery refined yet impactful.

Her glossy brunette hair was worn loose and parted slightly off-centre, falling in soft, natural waves around her shoulders. A smoky eye, softly sculpted cheeks and a muted nude lip completed the look, allowing the intricate detailing of the dress to remain firmly in focus while enhancing her striking features.

Seated among fellow A-listers, Anne appeared relaxed and confident, effortlessly commanding attention without even setting foot on the runway.

She was joined by British actress Emilia Jones, 23, who brought a modern, edgy contrast to the front row. Emilia – daughter of Welsh singer Aled Jones – opted for a structured black leather corset paired with a chic tan midi skirt. Oversized dark-rimmed sunglasses completed her look, lending an air of understated cool.

On the runway, supermodel Gigi Hadid captivated the crowd as she showcased several Ralph Lauren looks, gliding down the catwalk with her signature poise. The show drew an enviable mix of fashion insiders, Hollywood talent and industry heavyweights, reaffirming its place as one of the week’s most anticipated events.

For Anne, the glamorous appearance comes ahead of a particularly busy year. She is preparing to promote two highly anticipated projects: The Devil Wears Prada 2 and the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel Verity.

The first trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 dropped earlier this month, sending fans into a frenzy. In the preview, Meryl Streep reprises her iconic role as Runway editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, who shares an awkward reunion with Anne’s character, Andrea “Andy” Sachs. Set two decades after the original 2006 hit, the sequel nods to shifting media landscapes and revisits familiar faces, including Stanley Tucci’s Nigel and Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton.

The original film, adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, became a global phenomenon, grossing $326.7 million worldwide on a $41 million budget. With nostalgia running high, expectations for the sequel are sky-high.

If her commanding NYFW appearance is anything to go by, Anne is more than ready for her next fashion-fuelled chapter.
