Griezmann first joined Atletico from Sociedad in 2014 and has become a club legend.
He won the Europa League in 2018 but was with Barcelona when Atleti won their most recent league title in 2021, before returning initially on loan the following season.
He said on Instagram, external: “It’s not easy to put into words what I feel, because this club is my home and you are my family.
“It has been an incredible journey, full of unforgettable matches, goals, joy, and a passion that only those of us who feel Atleti can truly understand.
“But for now, let’s leave the future in the future: because I’m not leaving yet. I still have months left wearing this shirt, months to give everything in our stadium and away from it, to lift that Copa del Rey and to dream of going as far as possible in the Champions League.”
