Applications are now open for the 2026 Greek America Corps Volunteer Program, offering individuals from around the world the opportunity to engage directly with communities in Greece through service, cultural immersion, and meaningful human connection.
Organized by the New York City-based Greek America Foundation, the program has become one of the Foundation’s most impactful initiatives—bringing volunteers face to face with real needs while deepening their understanding of modern Greece beyond headlines and heritage trips.
Building on more than a decade of successful volunteer placements, the 2026 program will once again offer carefully structured opportunities in Athens, Thessaloniki, and Chios.
Each location serves a distinct population and set of challenges, from supporting vulnerable communities and refugees to assisting social service organizations and local NGOs that are deeply embedded in their neighborhoods. Volunteers are not observers—they become active participants in daily efforts to uplift and support those most in need.
What has long set Greek America Corps apart is its emphasis on responsibility, humility, and long-term impact. Participants commit their time and energy not as tourists, but as engaged volunteers working alongside Greek partners who understand their communities best.
Over the years, alumni of the program have described the experience as transformative—often reshaping how they see Greece, service, and their own role in creating positive change. Many return home as lifelong ambassadors for the country and the Foundation’s mission.
The 2026 program continues this legacy, while also responding to evolving social realities in Greece. Economic strain, displacement, and social inequality remain pressing issues, and Greek America Corps volunteers play a small but vital role in addressing them—one relationship, one project, one shared experience at a time. The program is open to young adults of all backgrounds who are ready to contribute thoughtfully, work collaboratively, and approach service with empathy and respect.
Those interested in participating are encouraged to apply early, as placements are limited and the program is highly selective.
The Greek America Foundation views Greek America Corps not simply as a volunteer opportunity, but as a bridge between the Greek diaspora, Philhellenes, and the communities that need support today—grounded in action, not symbolism, and driven by the belief that meaningful change begins with showing up.
