Armenia’s Ambassador to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, has met senior officials at the National Archaeological Museum of Greece to discuss deepening cooperation between the two countries’ cultural institutions.
The meeting, held on 24 February in Athens, brought together Ambassador Mkrtchyan, the museum’s director Dr Konstantinos Nikolentzos, and Dr Evaggelos Vivliodetis, head of exhibitions, communication and education.
The talks focused on strengthening inter-museum collaboration and advancing a number of ongoing joint initiatives between Armenia and Greece in the cultural sphere.
Ambassador Mkrtchyan outlined current projects linking museums and cultural institutions in both countries, as well as new initiatives launched by the Armenian embassy in cooperation with Greek partners.
The sides also reviewed progress on agreements reached during the Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports’ visit to Greece in the summer of 2025, including planned cooperation with the National Archaeological Museum.
Discussions covered a wide range of potential areas for collaboration, including the organization of joint exhibitions, research projects, conservation and restoration of museum artefacts, archival work, and the exchange of laboratory expertise. Educational programs and professional exchanges were also highlighted as key priorities.
Participants additionally reflected on the historical ties between Armenia and Greece, noting shared cultural heritage and centuries of interaction between the two civilizations, from antiquity to the present day.
The sides expressed readiness to further expand cooperation, aiming to promote cultural dialogue and strengthen institutional links between Armenian and Greek museums.
