Armenia’s Ambassador to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, met with Greece’s Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Christos Dermentzopoulos, to discuss advancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of digital governance, high technologies and innovation.
During the meeting, the sides reviewed progress on digitizing the protocols of the December 2024 session of the Armenian-Greek Intergovernmental Commission on economic, industrial, technical and scientific cooperation. They also discussed developments in planned joint projects in new technologies, high-tech industries and scientific collaboration.
It was highlighted that a Memorandum of Understanding between Armenia’s Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance has already been agreed upon and is expected to be signed during one of the upcoming high-level visits.
Both sides affirmed that the governments of Armenia and Greece consider high-tech development a strategic priority, stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in this sector.
Ambassador Mkrtchyan noted Armenia’s significant progress in high technology and innovation in recent years, including sustained double-digit economic growth. He cited as a key indicator of Armenia’s growing reputation the recent decision by U.S.-based Firebird — a company specializing in artificial intelligence, cloud and infrastructure technologies — to obtain an American export license and announce its first $500 million investment in Armenia.
The Ambassador also presented the concept of the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, describing it as a globally successful Armenian-born educational brand now operating in numerous cities worldwide.
Deputy Minister Dermentzopoulos expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation with Armenia in the high-tech sphere and pledged to organize further discussions in the near future.
The meeting was also attended by Alexandros Boudouris, Diplomatic Adviser to the Greek Minister of Digital Governance, who praised the participation of Armenia’s delegation and companies in the upcoming DEFEA 2025 defense exhibition.
